I found this little gem using my Smokers Guide book. I wanted to visit the Albert Cuyp market when in Amsterdam, so I decided to do a little daytrip to hit up both :) Its actually nit that far from the strict centrum, but when you are baked, everythign feels far...
Katsu is not your normal touristy coffeeshop. Its truely a locals' spot, with normal "Dutchies" hanging out with spliffs, reading newspapers at a large table. The area is bursting with energy from the market, the terrace was sunny (we got lucky to visit during a lovely heat wave). The ladies behind the bar were helpful in advising us what to smoke to not fall om our faces. The menu is very large and they offer deals for buying larger bags. I think its really cool that they have a little lit showcase with everything on the menu. I bet it saves them time showing samples of their vast menu. The place looks like its been just renewed. Its one of the few coffeeshops where I felt I am spending just the right amount of money per gram, and the drinks were not pricey either. Getting to the bathroom was interesting - the stairs to get to it are typical Amsterdam style! Narrow, steep and winding - or maybe I was super stoned haha!
