What Are Magic Truffles?

Sclerotia, also known as Magic Truffles or Philosopher’s Stones, and are sometimes evenjust sold as Magic Mushrooms. Magic truffles are very similiar to magic mushrooms and grow from the same source, mycelium, the vegetative part of a fungus. Just like magic mushrooms they contain psilocybin, which gives them their strong effect. Since truffles are not mushrooms they do not fall within the the Opium Act and can be grown, sold, bought and consumed legally.

You'll find magic truffles on sale at almost all of Amsterdam's Smart Shops, but some are better than others - check out our Smokers Guide Map and Smart Shop Listings for our favorite smart shops in Amsterdam.

Magic mushrooms and truffles come in a number of varieties, all with slightly different effects. The 3 known varieties of magic truffle are Psilocybe Tampanensis, Psilocybe Mexicana A, and Psilocybe Atlantis. However many companies will sell different varieties of these types under their own names, like Philosophers’ Stones, Pajaritos, Dolphins Delight and many more. Visit our friends at Magic Truffles, When Nature Calls, Kokopelli, Magic Mushroom Gallery Singel, Magic Mushroom Gallery Spuistraat or Innerspace to learn more!
