I will definitely go back
My 1st time here in 3 trips to A'dam. It was small but not at all as spartan as I'd read. Very comfy, but we must have hit them at a good time in the evening, because we got a table for two and didn't have to wait at all for service.
Marijuana menu: The menu was fine. We couldn't score bigtime on account of leaving for Paris the next day, but we got a pure pre-rolled of their mixed shake which we did right there. It was Electrifying! Returned 1/03, got excellent Grey Mist Crystal and a couple pre-??? ????
Service & staff: I thought I was going to encounter complete idiots from all the reviews I read. This guy who served us was totally together, and perfectly courteous and attentive. Returned 1/03, same good service, but place packed this time.

This place is a dump on a dismal trashy street.

This place doesn't get the raves for nothing
Good place, but seats are at a premium. If you get up to buy a drink or go to the head, you'll lose your seat. It's cool to sit out on the sidewalk in sunny weather. Popular location.

Service & staff: Very courteous and upbeat staff behind the bar and at the dealer's counter.

I have kind of a soft spot in my heart for this place, and will continue to see what's good there to smoke
This is a pretty good setup right on Warmoestraat. Comfortable place to duck into in a sudden shower or if you're tooling around before the other places open up for the day.
Marijuana menu: My first trip in Y2K, they had Bubblegum, that was the best of the entire trip. Went back last year and they had some perfectly decent Northern Lights, but no real connoisseur type stuff. Guess you just have to hit them at the right time.
Service & staff: I liked the service. Nothing warm and fuzzy, but courteous and correct. You get served, and not ignored. They also have beer at reasonable prices and good coffee. I once witnessed the barmaid actually cleaning the house bongs.

Deservedly good reputation brings in the crowds
This place would be great if you could get a seat. I've always had to leave to go sit down somewhere.
Marijuana menu: Incredible choice of offerings. I had their Kali Mist and some Malana Cream hash first trip, which were very good. Last time the Dutch Moonshine Hash was good too.
Service & staff: Excellent and friendly at the bar and at the dealers counter. The place is packed and they act like they're happy to see you.

Nice large place with room to move around and places to sit. Good location on Warmoestraat. Real good coffee. Unfortunately no beer.

Jan '03 most recent trip. Nothing special, but extremely few shops are really anyplace you would want to hang anyway.
Marijuana menu: The Blueberry is still a champion. but not as good as AK 47 from Greenhouse, or good Bubblegum, or even the pure prerolleds from Grey Area.
Service & staff: Last trip Jan'03 after a number of visits there, formerly very friendly, good-natured, nice folks. Now they suck bigtime. I'm convinced the place has changed hands.

High-priced beverages, crummy smokeables, loud music
Definitely a tourist shop. Big and opens onto a well-touristed street. Even though it was crowded, there were seats available, especially upstairs by the dealers booth like the last reviewer said.
Marijuana menu: I guess the menu was varied, but the Orange Bud I purchased didn't make the grade. Maybe I just made a bad choice, but in A'dam, there should be no bad choices. I had most of it left over at the end of my trip and tossed it.
Service & staff: Almost non-existent, although the dealer was friendly enough.

Alert! Reviews in Amsterdam Hotspots website indicate that several guests have been attacked and robbed by local punks in cahoots with the bartender.
Marijuana menu: Apparently they were set up by the barkeep, and started out trying to pick the guests pockets, when it escalated into violence.
Service & staff: Similarly read the review in the Amsterdam Coffeshop Directory in which the guest was viciously attacked by the bartender.
