This place is the only place in the area that sells very high quailty suta.
This is quite a big coffeeshop on two layers.
It sells alcohol and has pool tables upstairs
Marijuana menu: Despite being at the heart of the red light distict, it has some excellent grass. The only weed that was still available when I went there was white shiva, which was one of the most potent (in the best possible way) types of suta I've ever smoked.
Service & staff: This place takes its marijuana seriously. Good, helpful staff.

Perhaps not somewhere to sit and relax, but certainly a coffeeshop with some very cheap hash.
One of the less dingey coffeshops. It is clean and caters for internet surfers.

Big and very tacky. It has a cheesy tropical style bar and covers 3 areas.
Marijuana menu: The menu was varied enough, but I made the mistake of buying some Himalyan hash, which was very expensive and not at all special.
Service & staff: One of the times I was there, the barman moaned at me for not looking too happy when he served me a whisky and water with about half a pint of water in it.

More like a pub than a coffeeshop in it's feel. You can sit by the window and look at the madness of the red light disrict unfold.
Marijuana menu: Not good at all. Last time I was there it was clear that the staff had been told to try to push the menu at the customers.
Service & staff: On the whole ok, although the manager/owner was upset when I rejected the chance to buy some of their "white widow".

This is a very pleasant bar/coffeshop
The style is not unlike a French brasserie. It's bigger than most and a lot less seedy. You can sit outside as well and smoke, for a very continental feel.
Marijuana menu: It's not a very big menu, and not the cheapest, but there are some good hashes. You can see the samples, as they are stapled to the menu.
Service & staff: Laid back staff. I was unfortunate enough once to witness a group of pissed up English tourists who ran away without paying their bill. The barman just shrugged his shoulders and smiled on.

Nice and bright inside, with a lot of wooden beams adding to the effect.
Marijuana menu: I was very surprised how good the Northern Lights I got in there were,considering the location was so touristy.

If you're looking for good value deals, try this place.
There's something a little unique about this place, what with the colourful Floyd paintings on the walls.
Marijuana menu: Definately some good deals in here. I got a lot more suta for my euros here than practically anywhere else. I seem to be the only person though who wasn't blown away by the Mother's Finest.
Service & staff: I think it was an English guy who served me. He answered the questions I had, so no complaints.

If you want to go to Amsteram to be in the company of loutish beer drinkers, then this place comes highly recommended.
This place has the feel of a bar/pool hall. Not stylish in any way. It was full of utterly cliched drunken English beer boys probably on a stag weekend.

The most original architecture of any coffeeshop.
That's the main reason for coming.
Marijuana menu: Not that cheap, although I bought 5 grammes of charras for a fair price. It was pretty poor from a getting stoned point of view, although that's because a lot of dark hashes are really quite weak.
Service & staff: I waited a LONG time bafore there was any sign of a dealer, but that's all part of the Amsterdam experience. It didn't bother me too much.

I don't care if their blow is any good or not, I'm not prepared to go back to a place which makes me feel nervous and unwelcome.
It looks like a greasy spoon cafe. Orientated for eating, which is what I expected.
Marijuana menu: Good menu. I got the impression that what was on offer was of a decent quality based on our Northern Lights purchase.
Service & staff: The first time practically in my life that I've been very pissed off by service. The blonde haired lady was very rude, chastising me for not saying good morning to her when I walked in. "Hi there" obviously isn't good enough.
