I can Never make up my mind!

I do like the greenhouse... its on  a canal with seating outside ( which is always a plusn for me ) inside its all whistles and noises and its always packed with tourists, service can be a bit lax and prices are high, there is definitley better value for money in the City.

But I am always torn whenever I go there on one hand its quite an alright place to go, but on the other I always feel a little mugged off with myself when I do, I suppose I will just sumise this one as one of my ' un-decided' .

Amnesia

coffeeshops
Always worth a visit!

Every time I go to amnesia they have got something exciing on the menu.

The place is ideal for a pre lunchtime coffee, right amid the trees and canals of the nine streets with some great seating outside. I think this is currently one of my favorite outside seating spaces! I think !.....

The inside is very trendy looking but still quite inviting they have a good range of chess boards which although I always say ' I must sit and have a game of chess in Amnesia this time ' I have yet to actually do it . but I do think a nice summers day sat outside spliff and a coffee on the go and have a nice little game of chess ....but thas for anither time x

The menu here totally holds up to scrutiny stocking some very nice almost ancient classics as well as a fine selection of modern and contemporary favorites. although it is a little on the pricey side, its more of a treat than a staple .

Nice little local style coffee shop

AnyDay is a proper little dutch type shop really close to the center, a bit olike a little cafe or bakery or something , the little ledge table that runs along the windows make it great for people watching although it can get pretty cramped !A old metal spiral staircase death defyingly leads you upstairs to a more loungable space and the vaporisers built into the tables are awesome,( although ask about hiring the required attachment before you get up the stairs ....having to come up and down can be a pain )

Very Helpful staff and something on the menu for every taste and budget !

A Great Spot!

The last few times I have been past there has been no sign of life and from what I can gather from other reviews they were maybe not all that I remembered them to be  by the end.

For Location this place rocked , It was tiny a teenytiny cave in the wall with a conservatory out front surrounded by a llot of hap hazard tables and cahirs, but on a sunny day you could sit outside looking toward central station with all of its comings and goings, or on a rainy day you could bundle up in the little greenhouse/conservatory bit and feel comfy and cosy,

Dolphins (The)

coffeeshops
When you are looking for the coffee shop in between coffeeshops

A nice little place this certainly one of the more unique variations on the coffeeshop and perfectly central ( altough I have walked straight past it several time ) it should be relatively easy to find!

The decor makes this place its all underwater themed, a bit dated these days , but artificial coral and murals really do give it the desired effect!

Downstairs there is a really comfy place to rest a while and a really sort of relaxed studently feel to it !

The menu is a little pricey with only a few varieties on offer, but well worth a go, the in house ' white dolphin ' is just a take on a classic white strain so always a fool proof option .

Bluebird

coffeeshops
Great Little Coffee shop

I had always had it on my to do list, find the bluebird.

not as easy as I first thiught , but then my first few trips to Amsterdam I had absolutely no idea where I was going , for most of the time!

This multi levelled little coffeeshop is kind of set back a little from the main throughfare so it has a kind of little undercover outdoor seating area which is quite tucked in , a great place to sit and people watch, if you can get a seat !

The indoor upstairs bit is really comfy , plenty of places to lounge and relax and read whilst you have a nice little smoke from the menu , which in itself is very respectable a great little menu if you want to have a little sample of a few things for a reasonable price !

How Does the Song go again?

This place is great, a stones throw from central station great big windows looking out on to the street !

I only went in here for the first time a couple of years ago, I was looking online prior to a trip trying to figure out things for a 'to do list ' and popeyes came up , I dont know why but you know when you get a feeling to not try certain coffee shops for various reasons.... not for any tangible reason , but you are walking along and you see one and think , no Ill, not bother stopping in here, well ignore that little voice as I did when I eventually got round to trying this place 1

i had always just presumed it was another of the more touristy ones that I will just avoid, but it is actually really nice , great coffees and a nice menu , top end is a little pricey but the rest of the menu is pretty respectable, and the view from the cafe floor or the raised mezzanine is great !

A Classic Coffee shop

This place can get heaving, but if you can ' dig it ' shuffle in and find a space, although you will still end uo sat on someones somthing anyway! This place reminds me of what festival catering used to be like!

On a sunny day though excellent place to be sat out on the canal watching the hippies and the crazies go by, a lovely, quant, cosy, bit dingy, ( but in a good way) bustling little coffeeshop almost traditional in a bit of an americanized way without seeming overly commercialised.

The menu was slightly limited, but fine if your heads rattling a bit and too much choice serves only to confuse an already confused sate of mind !

Hunters Bar

coffeeshops
Always the First Stop !

Now Hunters is Great.

I do have a peculiar sentimentality for this place I must admit. but this place is and always has been one of my personal favorites. From my first solo trip to amsterdam .....and Man that was a trip! to my many reccuring trips to the City, straight away of the tram or out of central station regardless of day of the week or time of the day. I drag my travel weary self and my little selection of belongings on wheels down warmoestraat with its consistent new years eve feel and go straight for hunters. a great albeit touristy and I much preferred when you could still grab a beer and your baggie from the same cafe, but for me Amsterdam isnt Amsterdam until youve sat with a coffee and ended up staring out the door at the passers in the street, and thought .......' shit , how long have I been sat here ? Kashmir Lounge

coffeeshops
Kashmir a regular stop !

I have been stopping in at the Kasmir Lounge for the last 15 years or so , man I feel old when I say that , but this place is great its really rolled with the changes ( if you will excuse the pun )

its a little bit of a walk for anyone that dosent know their way around that well but it is totally worth the trek, and various trams will get you within easy walking reach if you can keep your head together for long enough to stay focused !

when I first came here back in 2001 it was a very strong impression that has stayed with me ever since , during a nice summer day you can sit outside and watch the world go by with a beer and a spliff, yes this is a place that still allow you both indulgences at once ( although they have moved the coffee shop specific premesis ) over to the otherside of the same street ) you can buy your stash at the coffee shop and then head over to the bar to order your drinks. The inside is like the mos eisley cantina set up by bedouins, after dark the place jumps with various d-j spots and at the weekend it can be heaving. but it is such a pleasure to go and peruse the ample weed menu ( excellent selection of international hashes ) and then get your self a comfy seat or bean bag and hide in a dimly lit corner to sup small beer and light up! you do tend to get more locals than tourists in here and the weekends can be a bit hectic , but that I think is just me getting old !
